利用为大作,元吉,无咎。
Supreme good fortune, no fault; those beneath do not take on burdens.
元吉无咎,下不厚事也。
Someone offers a tortoise worth ten pairs — it cannot be refused. Lasting perseverance brings good fortune. The king makes offering to the Lord on High — good fortune.
或益之十朋之龟,弗克违,永贞吉。王用享于帝,吉。
Something adds to it; it comes from without.
或益之,自外来也。
Increase through times of misfortune — no blame. Sincere, walking the middle path, reporting to the prince with the jade tablet.
益之用凶事,无咎。有孚中行,告公用圭。
Using increase in calamity; it is inherent.
益用凶事,固有之也。
Walking the middle path, reporting — the prince follows. Favorable to be relied upon in moving the seat of power.
中行告公从,利用为依迁国。
Report to the ruler, he complies; to increase resolve.
告公从,以益志也。
Sincere with a kind heart — no need to ask. Supreme good fortune. Sincerity returns kindness to my virtue.
有孚惠心,勿问元吉。有孚惠我德。
Sincere kindness of heart; do not question it. Bestow virtue; great achievement of will.
有孚惠心,勿问之矣。惠我德,大得志也。
No one increases him; someone strikes him. A heart not constant — misfortune.
莫益之,或击之,立心勿恒,凶。
None add to it; one-sided talk. Someone attacks; it comes from without.
莫益之,偏辞也。或击之,自外来也。
