Commentary on the Judgment · 彖传
Great is the Creative's primal power! All things begin from it, ruling heaven. Clouds move, rain falls; all forms flow forth. The great light of end and beginning, the six positions form in time. Riding the six dragons, it governs heaven. The Creative's way transforms, settling each thing's nature and destiny, preserving great harmony. This is beneficial and persevering. When it leads all things, all nations are at peace.
大哉乾元，萬物資始，乃統天。雲行雨施，品物流形。大明終始，六位時成，時乘六龍以御天。乾道變化，各正性命，保合太和，乃利貞。首出庶物，萬國咸寧。

The dragon lies hidden. Do not act.
潛龍勿用。
Its strength is still beneath the surface.
潛龍勿用，陽在下也。
The dragon appears in the field. It is favorable to see the great person.
見龍在田，利見大人。
Its virtue radiates far and wide.
見龍在田，德施普也。
The superior person is active all day, vigilant at night. No blame.
君子終日乾乾，夕惕若厲，无咎。
It stays diligent all day, following the way over and over.
終日乾乾，反復道也。
Wavering flight over the depths. No blame.
或躍在淵，无咎。
It may leap into the abyss; advancing brings no fault.
或躍在淵，進无咎也。
The dragon flies in the heavens. Favorable to see the great person.
飛龍在天，利見大人。
The dragon flies in heaven; the great person takes action.
飛龍在天，大人造也。
Arrogant dragon has regrets.
亢龍有悔。
The dragon at the peak feels remorse; abundance cannot last.
亢龍有悔，盈不可久也。
