Heaven and Earth connect, and all things flow freely.
天地交而萬物通。
Six Lines · 六爻
Pulling up reed roots, bringing connected ones. Marching brings fortune.
拔茅茹,以其彙,征吉。
Pulling up the reed, the striving is auspicious. The will is directed outward.
拔茅茹征吉,志在外也。
Embracing the wild. Crossing the river. Not forgetting the distant. Companion lost but finding the central path.
包荒,用馮河,不遐遺,朋亡,得尚于中行。
Embracing the wild, gaining esteem from the central path. This brings radiance and greatness.
包荒得尚于中行,以光大也。
No level without a slope. No going without returning. Perseverance through hardship. No blame.
无平不陂,无往不復。艱貞无咎。勿恤其孚,于食有福。
No going without returning. This is the boundary of heaven and earth.
无往不复,天地際也。
Fluttering. Not enriched by neighbors. Not guarded yet sincere.
翩翩,不富以其鄰,不戒以孚。
Floating lightly, not wealthy: all have lost substance. Without caution, yet with sincerity: the heart's wish.
翩翩不富,皆失實也。不戒以孚,中心願也。
King Yi gives his daughter in marriage. Blessing and supreme fortune.
帝乙歸妹,以祉元吉。
Using blessings, great good fortune. The center carries out the wish.
以祉元吉,中以行願也。
The wall falls back into the moat. Do not use the army. Declare from your own city. Persistence brings regret.
城復于隍,勿用師。自邑告命,貞吝。
The city wall collapses into the moat. Its mandate is disordered.
城复于隍,其命亂也。
