The wild goose draws near the shore — the young one is in danger, there is talk. No blame.
鴻漸于幹,小子厲有言,无咎。
The youth's danger — righteousness means no blame.
小子之厲,義无咎也。

The wild goose draws near the rock — eating and drinking in contentment. Good fortune.
鴻漸于盤,飲食衎衎,吉。
Eating and drinking joyfully — not just to fill the belly.
飲食衎衎,不素飽也。

The wild goose draws near the plateau — the husband goes and does not return, the wife carries but does not raise. Misfortune. Favorable to ward off robbers.
鴻漸于陸,夫征不復,孕不育凶。利御寇。
The husband leaves and does not return — he abandons his companions in disgrace. The pregnancy does not come to term — it loses its proper course. But it is favorable to resist bandits — by yielding, they protect each other.
夫征不復,離群醜也。孕不育,失其道也。利用御寇,順相保也。

The wild goose draws near the tree — perhaps finding a flat beam. No blame.
鴻漸于木,或得其桷,无咎。
Perhaps finding a ridge beam — being compliant and gentle.
或得其桷,順以巽也。
Line 5
The wild goose draws near the hill — the wife has not conceived for three years, yet in the end nothing prevails against her. Good fortune.
鴻漸于陵,婦三歲不孕,終莫之勝,吉。
In the end, no one overcomes his good fortune — he gets what he wishes.
終莫之勝吉,得所願也。
Line 6
The wild goose draws near the high plain — its feathers can be used for the sacred dance. Good fortune.
鴻漸于陸,其羽可用為儀,吉。
Its feathers can be used for ceremony — they cannot be disordered.
其羽可用為儀,不可亂也。
