Mountain means stopping. When it is time to stop, stop.
艮，止也。時止則止。
Six Lines · 六爻
Keeping the toes still. No blame — favorable to lasting perseverance.
艮其趾，无咎，利永貞。
Stopping the toes — not losing what is right.
艮其趾，未失正也。
Keeping the calves still — cannot rescue what he follows; his heart is not at ease.
艮其腓，不拯其隨，其心不快。
Not helping his follower — not yet stepping back to listen.
不拯其隨，未退聽也。
Keeping the waist still, splitting the spine — danger, the heart smolders.
艮其限，列其夤，厲熏心。
Stopping at the waist — danger suffocates the heart.
艮其限，危熏心也。
Keeping the trunk still. No blame.
艮其身，无咎。
Stopping the body — it is stopping oneself.
艮其身，止诸躬也。
Keeping the jaw still — words ordered. Remorse fades.
艮其輔，言有序，悔亡。
Stopping the jaw — through inner balance and rectitude.
艮其輔，以中正也。
Sincere, wholehearted stillness. Good fortune.
敦艮，吉。
The good fortune of steadfast stopping comes from a solid finish.
敦艮之吉，以厚終也。
