Limitation. Success. The firm and yielding are divided, and the firm finds its center.
節亨，剛柔分而剛得中。

Not leaving the inner courtyard. No blame.
不出戶庭，无咎。
Not leaving the courtyard shows awareness of what is open and blocked.
不出戶庭，知通塞也。
Not leaving the outer courtyard. Misfortune.
不出門庭，凶。
Not leaving the gate means missing the right time.
不出門庭，失時极也。
If you set no limits for yourself, you will only lament. No blame.
不節若，則嗟若，无咎。
If there is no restraint and then regret, who is to blame?
不節之嗟，又誰咎也。
Contented limitation. Success.
安節，亨。
Restful restraint brings success by following the way above.
安節之亨，承上道也。
Sweet limitation. Good fortune — going forward brings honor.
甘節，吉，往有尚。
Sweet restraint brings good fortune by occupying a central position.
甘節之吉，居位中也。
Bitter limitation — perseverance brings misfortune. Remorse fades.
苦節貞凶，悔亡。
Bitter restraint with perseverance brings misfortune because the way is exhausted.
苦節貞凶，其道窮也。
