Inner Truth. The yielding is within, and the firm finds its center.
中孚，柔在內而剛得中。

Watchful and sincere — good fortune. With other intentions, no peace.
虞吉，有它不燕。
Auspicious from caution. The intent has not changed.
初九虞吉，志未变也。
The crane calls in the shade; her young answer. I have a fine goblet — I will share it with you.
鳴鶴在陰，其子和之。我有好爵，吾與爾靡之。
The young bird echoes it. A wish from the heart.
其子和之，中心願也。
Meeting the foe — now drumming, now halting, now weeping, now singing.
得敵，或鼓或罷，或泣或歌。
Sometimes drumming, sometimes stopping. The position is not fitting.
或鼓或罷，位不當也。
The moon nearly full, the paired horse lost. No blame.
月幾望，馬匹亡，无咎。
The horse and its match vanish. Leaving its kind to rise.
馬匹亡，絕類上也。
Sincerity binding like a clasp. No blame.
有孚攣如，无咎。
Sincere and clinging. The position is correct.
有孚攣如，位正当也。
The sound of wings rises to heaven — perseverance brings misfortune.
翰音登于天，貞凶。
The sound of wings reaches heaven. How can it last?
翰音登于天，何可長也。
